Latisha A. Smith, MD

LatishaDr. Latisha Smith is a 1983 graduate of the Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia. After completing a three year internship and residency at Butterworth Hospital in her home state of Michigan in 1986, Dr. Smith began work with the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) at a community clinic in Oakland, California. Most recently, Dr. Smith has been the Medical Director/Physician for the Restorix Medical Group based in Bellevue, Washington, Medical Director of Bellevue Hyperbarics and has been practicing medicine here in the Puget Sound area since 2010. Her community assistance activities include helping to run the Eastern Washington Save-A-Limb, Save-A-Life (SAL-SAL) program for amputation prevention. In 1990, Dr. Smith moved to Honolulu to pursue her sub-specialty training in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine at the University of Hawaii. After the completion of her training, Dr Smith worked for several years at the University of Hawaii in the Hyperbaric Treatment Center, treating scuba divers with the 'Bends' and doing chronic wound care. In 1997, Dr Smith joined the faculty at the University Of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. While there, she worked in the Center for Hyperbaric Medicine and Wound Healing as a physician, researcher and teacher, and was responsible for teaching students, residents and fellows about hyperbaric oxygen therapy, chronic wound care and lymphedema. She attended to patients and conducted research in the areas of diabetic neuropathy related pain relief, and topical growth factor agents.
